Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
1. Information We Collect
Media Editor Pro is designed to collect the minimum information needed to keep the app working. We collect:
- Anonymous Device Identifier: A randomly generated UUID stored securely in your device's Keychain. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or any personal identity.
- Anonymous Usage Logs: Periodic batched logs containing the conversion or tool used (e.g. "image converter", "compress video"), source and target format, file sizes, processing duration, and success/error status. Logs also include non-identifying device info: app version, build number, iOS version, and device model (e.g. "iPhone").
- Error Reports: When an error occurs, we include the error type and message in the usage logs so we can diagnose and fix bugs.
- Optional Feedback: If you choose to submit feedback from inside the app, the message text you write is sent to us along with your anonymous device ID.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We respect your privacy and do not collect:
- Your files. Photos, videos, audio, PDFs, and documents are processed entirely on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers.
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information.
- Your location, GPS coordinates, or IP-derived location.
- Contacts, calendar, health, or any sensitive data.
- Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA). We do not use IDFA, do not display third-party ads, and do not participate in any cross-app or cross-site tracking.
3. On-Device Processing
All media processing — format conversion, compression, resizing, watermarking, OCR, AI image enhancement, background removal, document scanning, audio/video editing, collage, and every other tool in the app — runs locally on your device using Apple frameworks (Vision, CoreML, AVFoundation, PDFKit, VisionKit, Core Image) and bundled on-device models. Your files never leave your device.
4. Permissions We Request
The app only requests permissions you actually need for the tool you choose to use:
- Photo Library (read): So you can pick images and videos to convert or edit.
- Photo Library (add): So you can save converted output back to your library.
- Camera: Only when you use tools that capture a photo (e.g. document scanner).
- Microphone: Only when you record audio for video tools.
- Apple Music / Media Library: Only when you pick a music track for audio conversion tools.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy.
5. How We Use the Information We Collect
- Operate and maintain the app's anonymous usage statistics (e.g. how many conversions were performed today).
- Diagnose crashes and bugs through error reports.
- Understand which tools are used most so we know where to focus improvements.
- Respond to feedback you voluntarily submit.
6. Third-Party Services
Media Editor Pro does not integrate any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, attribution providers, crash reporters, or social-login providers. Usage logs and feedback are sent only to our own backend server.
The app uses the following third-party open-source libraries that run entirely on your device and do not transmit any data to their authors or any third party:
- LAME — MP3 audio encoder used locally for converting audio to MP3.
- Real-ESRGAN (Xintao Wang et al., BSD-3-Clause) — bundled CoreML model used for on-device AI image upscaling and enhancement. See github.com/xinntao/Real-ESRGAN.
7. Data Storage and Security
The anonymous device ID is stored in the iOS Keychain (encrypted, accessible only after first device unlock). Usage logs and feedback are transmitted to our servers over HTTPS and stored with industry-standard protections. Your converted files and conversion history remain on your device.
8. Data Retention
Anonymous usage logs are retained for up to 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted. Feedback messages are retained for as long as needed to respond and improve the app.
9. Your Rights
Because we do not collect any personal identifiers, we cannot link data to a person. However, if you provide your anonymous device ID you may:
- Request a copy of the anonymous logs associated with that ID.
- Request deletion of all logs associated with that ID.
- Opt out of analytics entirely by contacting us.
10. Children's Privacy
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. No personal information is required to use any feature.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above.
